Treatments Modalities
Dry Needling
IMS and Acupuncture are both offered as treatment options and can be used for a variety of injuries. Acupuncture can be used to calm the nervous system and is especially helpful in pain management. IMS uses the same very thin solid needles as acupuncture and can be used to release trigger points as well as stimulate muscles throughout the body.
Manual Therapy
Your physiotherapist might discuss wth you about using a variety of techniques to help loosen stiff or restricted muscles or joints. They may use mobilizations, mulligans, manipulations, muscle energy techniques, tissue distraction cups (fascial cupping), and other soft tissue techniques.
Blood Flow Restriction
BFR restricts the flow of blood in a specific area causing the local muscles to work harder to return the blood back to your heart. This allows you to get stronger faster and is a game changer for knee surgery rehab, patellar tendinopathy, lower leg and quad strains and many more peripheral soft tissue injuries.
Shockwave
Shockwave is a highly effective treatment for connective tissue as it stimulates fibroblasts which are one of the cells responsible for healing. Commonly treated areas include plantar fascia, tennis elbow, rotator cuff tendons and patellar tendinopathy.
Treatments are typically done weekly for several weeks
LASER, Ultrasound, Elecromodalities
LASER is a pain free and highly effective treatment option for decreasing pain and encouraging healing to any injured tissues including the neck facet joints, muscle strains, ligament sprains and tendon injuries.
Ultrasound can be used to help your body absorb certain topical medications such as diclofenac and increase blood supply to injured tissues especially in the hand.
Electromodalities such as EMS, TENS, and IFC all work to decrease pain and can be use to manage swelling, stimulate muscle contractions, relax tight muscles and bring blood to an injured area.
